ConSysTech has successfully supported gkv Informatik in one of its largest projects in recent years. As part of the “gkvi2020 – Transition and Transformation” project, ConSysTech dismantled all the hardware down to the last cable from more than 2,000 m² of data center space and made it available for remarketing, so that the data centers could be returned to the data center operators “swept clean” and the project could be completed on schedule.
gkv informatik is one of the leading IT service providers in the statutory health insurance market. We implement the central collection of contributions for over 17 million insured persons for our customers and support more than 41,000 SHI employees in the use of IT applications.
The “gkvi2020 – Transition and Transformation” project included the transition of all services from our own data centers in Wuppertal to our service providers in Frankfurt.
This included the dismantling of the entire infrastructure from more than 2,000 m² of data center space at the locations in Wuppertal. As part of the remarketing, the hardware was successively dismantled from the data centers being dismantled by ConSysTech and made available for remarketing. All data carriers were removed from the hardware to be marketed for disposal in compliance with data protection regulations. In order to return the data centers to the data center operators “swept clean”, all active and passive cabling had to be removed without interruption. With the support of ConSysTech, the cabling was dismantled from the rack cabling to the cabling in the raised floor and from the cable trays above the racks.

Facts and figures – The company ConSysTech was responsible for:
- the dismantling or removal of hardware from more than 400 racks from two data centers with more than 2,000 m² of data center space,
- the removal of more than 6,000 hardware components, including preparation for their safe transportation,
- the removal of more than 30,000 data carriers, as well as assistance with data protection-compliant disposal in accordance with DIN EN 66399,
- the dismantling and disposal of the entire fiber optic and copper cabling of more than 500 cubic meters, including the cabling that was laid in the subfloors. The volume is equivalent to filling over 2,200 bathtubs or more than 4 articulated buses.
- The data centers were handed over “swept clean”, including the cleaning of the subfloor and the data center areas.
All of this was carried out within a tight time frame without any significant interruptions. We would like to take this opportunity to thank ConSysTech once again for the smooth process, so that the project could be completed on schedule.
